I am SOOOOOO super-uber excited that I now have a new web design from Megan at A Bird in Hand Designs. This is something that I've been excited about for a really long time. It was always on my "to-do" list, but a close friend of mine gave me this as a surprise and I could not be more thankful!!! I am beyond amazed at how she incorporated my old monkeys and my new mateys and made a blog that was just like I imagined it would be!! Thank you so much Megan and Stacy. This really made my day!! I would LOVE to know what you all think!
Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend! 20 more days for me....how about for you??

Last week my class read the book How To Make Ice Cream from Reading A-Z. Ben & Jerry's). Each student invented their own NEW flavor of ice cream and read over and over the steps to making it on our own from our book. On Thursday we gathered all the ingredients and supplies and got busy!
We put half-and-half, vanilla, and white sugar in a sandwich bag, inside a pint-size bag (for added protection). Then we added ice and rock salt to a gallon-size bag and gently put in our bag of ingredients. Then came the fun part. Each student had to SHAKE, SHAKE, SHAKE for at least 5 minutes to make his/her own ice cream. We've been talking a lot about producers and consumers and found that day that we were BOTH a producer AND a consumer. It make those vocabulary words hit home a lot more for sure!
After the students finished eating their ice cream we watched the book on Raz Kids one more time before they wrote How to Make Ice Cream papers with the steps and ingredients and all. I was very impressed with their work and their understanding of what we did. (Though I forgot to take pictures of their writings!)
I did this last year and plan to continue to do it every year so that the kids can learn through experience AND get a yummy treat that makes the learning that much more meaningful!

It's April and time to link up with Farley at Oh'Boy 4th Grade for this month's Currently.
I have to admit that one of my co-workers really got me on April Fool's Day! She made a REALLY AUTHENTIC-LOOKING sign to go on the copier saying that is had a new voice activated function and you just needed to say your first and last name and then tell it what you wanted it to do and it will do it. I PROMISE it looked legit...so I stood there.......Angie Monahan.....Angie Monahan......ANGIE MONAHAN.....NOTHING. So I flipped up the sign and used it the regular way. I didn't even know it was a joke until everyone was laughing about it LATER. I just thought it wasn't working. The joke was on me for sure! I wonder how many more people fell for it. The sign stayed there on every copier all day....
Did you get fooled on April Fool's Day this year? I'd love to hear your story...
